Before I begin today, just a question for Blue Lady regarding the health care post. Yes, it's a mess. She mentioned the bad guys, including doctors and pharmaceutical companies. Well, I suppose we could do without drugs. If we keep the doctors out of health care, then what would they do? Perhaps they could become trial lawyers, like John Edwards, and sue the insurance companies and doctors that are left in order to make millions on naive clients that buy into the idea that they are going to make those millions also. Then again, perhaps we can put the blame where it really lies, on class action tort lawyers. What a concept!
I read a good article in the Wall Street Journal last week. Seems there is a repercussion on some of the outsourcing that has occurred in the high tech arena. This could be good for us. There is a guy (American of Indian heritage) that started an IT company. Outsourced most of the programming to India for cost purposes. The market over there is now demanding almost what salaries are here in the States. With the problems that have occurred, such as lack of communication skills, culture clashes, and lack of understanding the U.S. business mindset, it's becoming more economical to either bring some of those people over here and/or hire people from here. The slightly higher salary being asked for here, without those problems overseas, is becoming attractive to employers. That won't stop them from soliciting help from China and Korea, but they will encounter more of the problems they've experienced in India. Give it time, what goes around comes around!
Michelle Malkin just wrote a great article, addressing the case of the soldier in NJ (served in Iraq and Afghanistan) that was shot in his driveway over the weekend. Seems someone that is anti-war, anti-American shot one of his own, right here. Supposedly, it was to send a message. Okay, what was the message and to whom was it being sent? Well, we won't know from the shooter, as he blessed us all with shooting himself. Michelle's article highlighted the fact that you didn't see this on the front page of the NYT or any other major newspaper (since they typically follow the Times pattern). Here's a solider that has served us and managed to stay alive in extremely dangerous conditions, only to get shot in his own driveway by a nutbag that at least had the sense to off himself. The media has a way of not wanting to expose the activists when they really go overboard. People should really start paying attention to those around them. Talking about keeping your enemies closer, this is a prime example!
