Sexual Assaults Up in Military

Well, you knew it had to happen. Statistics have shown that sexual assaults in the military are up, especially for deployed soliders. I've always said, you can't tamper with Mother Nature. Sorry, but you put men and women together, especially in an environment such as that where men are not around females for a length of time, and it's bound to happen. I don't condone it, but it's a fact of life. Remember, these kids are kids, at the peak of raging hormones. Don't get me wrong, I believe there are many ways in which women can support the military, but I've never been a proponent of women alongside men in combat. Whether or not they're qualified is irrelevant to this discussion. Women would not be assaulted if they weren't on the lines with the men, period.

There is also a mindset that exists regarding the protection of women, as they are the bearer of children. Statistics have also shown that we, in the U.S. and Western Europe, are not producing at the same rate of decades past. When we have women losing their lives in combat, it continues to reduce that number. Believe it or not, some men today still revere women as sacred and should be protected, not have women protecting them. Knowing it's the female gender that is the vessel of reproduction is a concern to those that would like to keep the generations coming.
