Lesbian fights to restict visitation of partner from child

Here is an interesting twist to a gay couple's adoption situation. I didn't see it in the Atlanta paper today, so it may have been addressed in another edition. I hardly read the Atlanta paper, so I don't know if it has been published, but I did read it in today's edition of the Durham Herald Sun. There is an Atlanta lesbian that was artificially insiminated and bore a son. She was in a relationship with a partner and fought for her partner's right to adopt the child. Seems she is questioning her lesbian lifestyle now and has decided she doesn't want to grant the typical visitation rights to the ex-partner. This has lead to a battle in court about the fact that Georgia doesn't have a law pertaining to these rights, and since she is the biological mother of the child, she should have sole custody and determination of visitation between the child and ex-partner. She's lost on appeal in court and has taken it to the Georgia Supreme Court, and they won't hear the case. So far, the ex-partner can still claim visitation rights.

It's bad enough when heterosexuals have these issues and suffices the child's emotional needs for their own, but it's double-jeopardy when a gay couple is involved. Never mind the fact that I don't believe gays should be able to adopt children (that's just my view), but I also don't believe in people playing God by having artificial insimination. From a heterosexual point of view, just because you're a female doesn't mean that you were meant to have children. If you can't get pregnant, perhaps there is a message there.

Now, if this woman had been a heterosexual in a relationship involving a male, it would be interesting to see if she had become pregnant without being artificially insiminated. For people to be able to do this while in a homosexual relationship wreaks of total selfishness. It will be interesting to see what a new generation of children being raised by gays produces. You think kids have problems now because of dysfunctional parents, this raises it to another level.
