Oh Yes I Did!

I totally agree with the government funding of monies for research and development of new products that assist society in beneficial ways. There is no question people need certain things in which to survive. Unfortunately, art is entertainment, and it's not the government's responsibility to give you something to "enhance the thought process". We enjoy it, but it's not necessary in order to survive. We learn of the arts in school. There are many institutions and companies that donate to the arts. You start taxing everyone on supporting them, then your donations aren't going to be as great. It's called competition, once again. Look at the great museums, theatres, etc. we have from the robber barons of the industrial revolution. Why were they able to give so much back to society, there was no income tax at the time. Of course Russia and other communist countries supported the arts. They had to, as they controlled every aspect of individuals' (or should I say the masses) lives. Those people had no choice. Again, we have choices in life. I value the artistry of some people, as they possess talents I don't. Nevertheless, why should I support their lifestyles? As I said, if people like it enough, they will support it and contribute on their own. Wait until I give examples of what so-called artistic talents tax dollars have gone to. This will be coming this weekend. Believe me, it's not what you and I appreciate as "art".
