Women in Politics, Part II
To further the Red Lady's embarrassment at being a woman, I submit the Ann Coulter interview on the Chris Matthews show last night. (Imagine, I can't find anything about that interview on any of the neo-conservative web sites, so I'll link to this : Huffington Report). Ann Coulter is a vicious woman. This so-called journalist stoops to personal attacks, then denies she even made those attacks. When I read a column or commentary, I expect to read opinions based on facts, or just plain facts, not venemous personal attacks. That is the major reason I won't listen to Rush Limbaugh, he's a hate monger, he's a divider, he's an immature little person. The Rules of Journalism or journalism ethics (which, to some is a double negative) stresses accurracy, objectivity, sensationalism and civility, most of which seems to be a foreign concept to Ann Coulter.
The Red Lady complains about how America is going to Hell in a Handbasket, but look at the style of neo-Conservative journalists such as Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter. There's no such thing as civility, they seem to reduce the commentary to an 8th grade level, with name calling and personal attacks. In any debate you must have some respect for the opponent, no matter what his/her position. Now, I understand that Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh and the Red Lady's favorites Bill O'Reilly and Neil Boortz are not debating or reporting, they are OPINION columnists.
This is an excellent article on what Op-Eds are for, and yes, it does speak badly of the political Left and their attempts to silence op-eds. But I use this quote directly from the aforementioned article 'An opinion piece -- whether an individual op-ed or a column -- exists to promote a point of view by argument. It does not seek to establish a fact, but to win people over to a particular viewpoint or opinion. ' The italics are mine.
So I guess what I'm trying to EMPHASIZE is that no one is right, we all have our own opinions. To stoop to name calling and personal attacks cheapens the commentary, in my opinion, and proves no respect for the other party.
OK, so to show that I am really the Purple Lady, here is an article on Hillary Clinton, and her secrecy issues. I'm thinking that voting for her would be almost as bad as what we have now.
And speaking of that, I need to clarify for the Red Lady the meaning of being the Commander-in-Chief. When someone is in charge of a company, group, organization or country, they are the figurehead for all decisions being made. That's why Bush is getting all the criticism about his policies. Wasn't it Truman who said 'The Buck stops here'? But this article proves me wrong, and I appologize.
