It's all Talk

The Red Lady seems to think that only the so-called liberals 'politicize' things to their advantage. Every group, right-wing, left-wing, centrist, whatever will find a cause to 'politicize' for their advantage. The religious-right, and by extension the GOP have politicized religion, bringing it to the forefront in all matters political, which, according to our Constitution should not be. But, religion has always muddled in politics from the Roman times. That is another argument, for another day.

And no, politicians aren't going to change their lifestyle to support their political spoutings. Did Newt Gingrich change his ideas about adultery while costing the tax payers billions in bringing down Clinton? I don't think so. Historically, any politician who tries to politicize morals will be brought down by their own weak ideals.

And Yes, everything comes back to George W. Bush because he's the president and ultimately, all political decisions that are made while he's president relate back to him. Duh! But I, and many like myself would like to see where the proof of WMD is. Where did we find them? How do we know that Saddam sent them to Syria? Where is the media reports? Where is the government press releases? Please just list one or two so I can verify that WMD is a fact. And I mean 'hard news' sources, not opinion pages like TownHall.com. Thank you.

As for the Patriot Act, I found this interesting article helpful. It was published prior to the 2005 renewal of the Patriot Act, but it's a good start. This article seems to state fact, pros and cons and some history. Read all 4 articles, then you can make up your own mind. What bothers me about this act is that it gives the government the authority to conduct intelligence-gathering activities without probable cause. That is in direct conflict to the Constitution. So, you say, they only mean to gather foreign intelligence, but what is the definition of 'foreign intelligence'? They could say that if you ordered a CD from a foreign ecommerce page, then they have the authority to do a physical search, wiretapping and intelligence gathering of you. Once the government gets the ability to do something like this, they can also define what this means.
