Round 2
Just kidding about Round 2. I totally understand what you're saying about freedom. What we're seeing is how our own freedom is hurting us with regards to others coming into this country and using is against us. Like everything, there is a downside. See, I know you're not totally left-sided. I'm not totally on the right either, but when I compare the two, I have to look at what I feel are the less of the evils. Yes, those like Soros and his ilk have a right to say what they want. I'm concerned that the general populace falls into believing philosophies, such as his, that are detrimental to this country. And if you think the general populace can think for themselves, just look at the ratings of Jerry Springer, the news on Anna Nicole Smith, etc. You get the picture. College campuses started becoming more liberal once we started allowing known Communists to teach. Yes, college students are idealistic, and it's good to encourage them to think, but when you have a one-sided influence, it's dangerous. There have been grades dropped if someone doesn't "think" the same as a professor, and that's called intimidation. Forget encouraging thinking, unless they think like the faculties. Once kids get out of school and start working and realizing where their money is going, they do tend to rethink their political views.
I think we've realized the fact that we have to protect our rights and freedoms. Unfortunately, it's going to have to start with watching what is coming here. Your more productive countries, such as Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa won't even let you apply for citizenship unless you show you can be a productive member of society. Once your visitation time is up, you're out of there, which is the way it should be here. We get some good people, but we're gaining a lot more of the "problems" other countries endorse getting rid of. We don't need that. Actually, illegals don't have rights as they're not citizens, and should be shipped out without incidence. If we take note from what's happened in Western Europe and the Muslim situation, we could avoid a lot problems that are already surfacing here in the States.
Bottom line is, Soros and company are planting the seeds of divisiveness, and it's frightening. I'm not taking up for the far religious right, but when you start losing moral values, you lose everything. Our government hasn't been a bastion of leadership in that respect, but it's all we have. We have to look at the big picture. If we aren't careful, we'll end up like the Romans. Nobody conquered them, they self-destructed.
As far as freedoms being taken away, let's explore their Socialist agenda sometime. As for your phone calls, if you're under suspicion by the Feds, then by all means, monitor the calls. I have nothing to hide, and let's face it, the CIA and FBI have a biography of all your activities since you came into this world. If my life can be saved by the government monitoring calls of suspected terrorists, so be it. It's their job to protect the citizens of this country. We aren't in danger of losing freedoms, but God forbid we're inconvenienced. There is a difference, and you know it when you travel to other countries. We're more free (for the moment) than any other country.
I do believe we have the same ideas, just a difference in how to handle them. It's becoming more apparent that people are more serious about Bush-bashing than looking at the overall series of events that are occuring as we speak.
