Hump Day

Red Lady here, thought I would begin the discussion today. Townhall.com is posted as a link here for anyone that may be interested in reading good jounalism. There are a couple of items from that site I'd like to comment on. The article by Mike Adams is great, and falls in line with the Blue Lady's and my recent discussions on what's being taught on college campuses. There is an Associate Professor, Julio Pino, at Kent State University. Evidently, this guy is espousing (spelling?) his views on Islam and the jhad. I blame the state of Ohio for hiring this lunatic. Encouraging students to think is one thing, intimidation and trying to influence them to hate their country is another.

Another good article by Walter Williams titled, "Democracy or Liberty" is interesting. Everytime I hear someone scream, "we're a democracy", I want to scream back, "we're a republic", as stated in our Pledge of Allegiance". There is a difference in a democracy and democratic ideals. If you look back in time at true democracies, they fell apart (as this country is hell-bent on doing). This article explains it succinctly.

I read in the AJC today where Cobb county is, once again, trying to reign in the cyclists on Columns Drive. They've provided lanes for them, but it's not enough. Seems they're riding side-by-side in the road. I've been on Columns Drive, and it's not that wide. I was driving down by the river in Roswell last Saturday morning, and I couldn't believe it. At 10:00 when traffic is picking up at a rapid pace, there were groups of cyclists riding 3 & 4 side-by-side. You had to come to a dead halt in the middle of the road to keep from hitting them (as God forbid they don't have the common sense to ride single-file) and to prevent a head-on collision with oncoming traffic. There's a certain thought process here. The analogy I use is; "If you want to cross in a pedestrian crosswalk because the law says you have the right-of-way, are you going to as a car is bearing down on you at 65 mph?" They obviously don't care whether or not they cause traffic accidents, because we have to share the road. The day they can pedal as fast as a car driving 45 mph, they're welcome to share the road.
