Happy Valentine's Day!
Well, it's Valentine's again, and we all know the hype that surrounds this day. I must admit, it's a "pretty" holiday, to say the least. I read an interesting article a couple of days ago. Apparently, American Greetings has decided to capture the audience of anti-Valentine customers by making cards with the anti-Valentine sentiment. Rather innovative idea, as there are many out there that don't like Valentine's, both attached and unattached. I don't have a problem with that, but even though I'm unattached, I don't mind it. To be honest with you, in this more contemporary world of non-romantics, I think it's still a nice day to fulfill those romantic desires that some still cherish. I'm certainly not bitter at not having someone to share romantic sentiments with. A couple of years ago when I was dating someone, I thought I made it easy on him by letting him know that it's really a holiday designed for florists, card shops, and restaurants to make a fortune, and it wasn't necessary to go to all that trouble. Well, that back-fired big time. Instead of spending a nice evening together, he took he Mother to dinner! Now if he really did want to do the Valentine's thing, I would not have been upset at all. My point was that I let him off the hook, and Mother took priority over me (the girlfriend) for dinner. I should have known there were problems at that moment, but chose to ignore the fact that Mother would always be at the top of the list, a bit strange to say the least.
Happy V'Day for everyone, no matter your status!
