As the Red Lady posted, VD day is just a 'holiday' created by greeting card companies. I, too, am a single person, but I've never really had issues with VD Day. I guess because my birthday is so close, I was more concerned with 'Significant Others' remembering that day. I did have one exceptionally romantic boyfriend remember my birthday as '8 days after GroundHog's day', not '4 Days before Valentines Day'. See why he's an ex?
Every person wants to be treated special, flowers, cards, candy, etc, but why limit it to just one day in the year? Why not do that for That Special Someone any day? I guess I'm just an incurable romantic at heart. One of the DJ's on the radio said until she got married, she'd boycott Valentine's Day and wear black. I guess lots of younger girls do that, get upset when they aren't involved with someone, but as one ages, one gets a feeling of empowerment by having time to yourself. I don't need a man, I want a man, but I can live without one. (<- operative word is 'man', not boy)
So for everyone involved with someone else, have a romantic dinner, consider yourself lucky and enjoy their company. For all of us who are without someone, count treat yourself special and don't fret, remember all those bad relationships and thoughtless individuals you dated in the past and count your blessings they are in the past.
