Attended my first local campaign meeting last night. The new owner of a coffee shop close to where I live is running for the State House of Representatives here in GA. I've volunteered to help him in his campaign. What a nice group of people. Now starts the planning stages, fundraisers, etc. I've also inquired as to how to help in the McCain campaign here in the state. The structure is a bit discombobulated, but with the new head of the national campaign, that should change. We'll see.

Just started reading the book, "Liberal Facism".

For all those "wealth envy" people out there, it has now been reported by the IRS that the wealthiest 1% is paying over 40% of the tax burden. 'Nuff said. BTW, this is what we pay for:

Now the Congress also passes what are known as non-binding resolutions. Taxpayers for Common Sense has highlighted some of its favorites:

Recognizing soil as an essential natural resource, and soils professionals as playing a critical role in managing our Nation's soil resources

Designating July 2007 as "National Watermelon Month"

Congratulating the men's volleyball team of the University of California, Irvine, for winning the 2007 NCAA Division I Men's Volleyball National Championship

Recognizing the 70th anniversary of the Idaho Potato Commission and designating May 2007 as "Idaho Potato Month"

Expressing support for designation of June 30 as "National Corvette Day"

When it comes to our presumptive presidential candidates ... they, too, are no exceptions. Barack Obama worked to pass a resolution to congratulation the Chicago White Sox for winning the World Series in 2005. And John McCain co-sponsored a resolution to congratulate the University of Arizona Wildcats for winning the 2007 NCAA Division I Softball Championship.

This your government at work, ladies and gentlemen. And you wonder why nothing ever really seems to get done up in Washington. It seems like they are busy taking care of more important matters ... like honoring the birth of Jamie Lynn Spears' baby or something.
Then again --- maybe we're better off the less they do.

Democrats answer to everything!
Senators Jay Rockefeller Barbara Boxer have come up with a brilliant way to pay for that $36 trillion in Medicare costs ... raise taxes!

If you don't read anything else posted here today, please read this. A good description of the indoctrination going on within the ivory towers of education today. Frightening, but true.
Here's an account from a professor at Wellesley of how the truth has lost out to political correctness in high education.
