Lighter Side

The weekend's coming and looking forward to it. Saturday will be full, as I'm working with Homeless Pets for the first time in a couple of months, due to other commitments keeping me away. Hopefully, we can get some kitties adopted. I so enjoy being with them. Later, I'll try to continue getting Christmas shopping done by buying Mom's gifts. She's the most difficult person to buy for, as if it doesn't pertain to golf, then it's tough. I admire her atheletic abilities, but it would be so much easier if she were a "girly girl". They're so much more fun to buy for.

Sunday - Panthers hosting Tampa Bay at home. That's going to be tough, as TB has performed beyond pre-season expectations! Panthers must pick up their running game and become tougher on defense if they want what is considered a "winning" season.

I can hardly wait - Sunday night my girls are back (the Housewives). Still my favorite show, with Boston Legal coming in second! The premiere of BL on Tuesday night was the best since the first season in 2004. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for a good show that hadn't been as exciting since its first season. Grey's Anatomy was good last night. We'll see how they keep things rolling this year. Coming in 3rd is Mad Men on Thursday nights (AMC). I've not viewed anything so well-written and delivered in a long time. It only has three more episodes to go, but has been renewed for another season. It's more sophisticated than typical shows, and makes you actually think, as well as be entertained.

As far as new shows are concerned, they're debatable, at best. Private Practice has a good cast, but is rather juvenile in the script. It will have to get much better to be a regular for me. Dirty, Sexy Money has been over-hyped. Donald Sutherland is the one that could keep it going, but to watch a totally dysfunctional family in all of its glibness doesn't warrant an hour of my time (I'd rather be reading). It's been compared to Dallas, but doesn't even bother developing characters. Perhaps Hot Shots has some potential. The concept is funny, but it remains to be seen as to whether or not it becomes quickly boring or the characters develop quickly. Since it comes on opposite of Mad Men, for the time being, Mad Men will win my time slot.

At least the reigning two shows for the third year stand as they are: Housewives and BL.
