Two issues the Blue lady touched on that I'd like to comment on:
I agree that Genarlow Wilson should be released. As I understand it, the jury didn't understand exactly what the law meant about this action being a misdemeanor. The guy that wrote the law and had it initiated is trying to get him released. Thugs get a lot less of a sentence, and this kid who was good academically, is having to live his life with this stigma. He was never in trouble and had a bright future in front of him. I didn't know the female involved is white, and I really don't know where race has anything to do with all of this. It was the age thing. The girl has said that she doesn't hold him accountable and said that her actions were concentual. It is amazing that the guy that is trying to get him released is white, and Thurbert Baker is black. The race game cannot be played in this one, for sure.
Yes, kids will experiment, but there is a lesson to be learned here. In the self-absorbed world we live in, we are lacking in a basic value system that protects young people. It shouldn't be confused with the "religious right", which seems to be an issue. It is the parents' responsbility to teach their children some values in order to protect them, as well as instilling a sense of self-worth when they become adults. Being moralistic is not the same as being a religious zealot, there is a difference. Seems the mention of any type of value system sends liberals into a tail-spin. The day we lose moral responsibility, is the day we become Europe.
