AJC
A couple of articles I glanced at from the AJC this morning inspired me to comment on both the good and the bad.
First, there is an effort through Jesse Jackson's Rainbow Coalition to try to get MLB to recruit more blacks. Evidently, only 10% of the players are black, and that constitutes a huge problem for the king of race-baiting himself. I suggest this, if they want to mandate affirmative action in MLB (regardless of how well they play), then I say we should have equal opportunity for all professional sports. Let's start with the NBA, which is comprised with a majority of black players. Then, let's get to the NFL. Again, let's forget about athletic ability, kind of like qualifications for any job when it comes to affirmative action. Let's get rid of the reverse discrimination in both the NBA and NFL and have "equal" opportunity for "everyone".
Second, the good story is about the Mansion in midtown. Now that it's been turned over to the Savannah college of the arts, they are redoing it. It's enlightening to see that some want to save what little heritage the city of Atlanta has left. I remember taking a BellSouth manager to lunch there one day back in the '90s when they were a client of mine. What a stately manor. Too bad it will be surrounded by new high-rises. How many can Atlanta build?
