Blue Thursday for a Red Lady

Nasty, nasty, nasty outside. That's alright, we need the rain. A couple of enlightening news articles today that I'd like to touch on. First, I've never considered "rap" music. Some do, but not me. I was pleased to read where rap is on the decline (thank God, after 30 years of thuggery) within its own. Seems people that have been in the rap arena, be it artists, producers, etc., are growing up and seeing the problems its influence has caused in our culture, especially in urban culture. It's about time!

I'm against faith-based initiatives, even though I'm a Christian. I don't believe tax-payers' money should go to government sponsored charities with religious overtones. There is a group of atheists in Wisconsin that have taken this issue to the Supreme Court. We'll see how it turns out. We already have several charities that are faith-based, I don't see us needing more.

Another misguided MARTA idea. They want to spend tons of money to change the name of some of the stations, honoring civil rights leaders. I stated in a previous post that there are many more important issues for MARTA to address in order to keep riders. Renaming stations isn't one of them. Don't we have enough civil rights madness going on in Atlanta anyway? That topic always seems to take priority over current problems of today! Shirley Franklin already spent enough to add Jackson's name to the airport, as if that was really necessary.
