Another Government Program

Well, before I depart work today, I just have to go off on this topic. Just saw in the Urinal and Constipation where Shirley Franklin is proposing a Cultural Investment Fund. Guess what this is for? Hint, "cultural", yep, the arts. This fund would provide more funding for artists. And where do you think the money will come from? Yep, the taxpayers of Fulton County. No wonder so may local municipalities are becoming incorporated. What a waste of money.

Now don't get me wrong, I love the arts and enjoy choosing what I want to see while "paying" to attend an event. Since we all pay for events, why have to doubly pay by having taxes increased to support what some may call art, while others decry, "what in the hell is this"? Why should your tax dollars go to support people that have chosen a career where they may not be earning what they would like? Get a second job or a another job altogether! If you're not good enough for people to support your work or wares by choice, why should government force-feed it's taxpayers? Providing welfare for people that don't/won't work is bad enough, but providing it for people working in a field where they know what the odds are of making a living is another example of redistributing the wealth, or can we say "socialism"? People have choices in this world, and it's time they take responsibility for them.

I could go on, but I'll cover this topic in much more detail when I write up my overview of Neal Boortz's book.
