Good morning, now that everyone is back to work! In continuing the MARTA discussion, I have to say I've heard good things about the D.C. rail system, although I haven't had the experience of riding on it. D.C. is a much smaller, condensed area than the Atlanta metro area. Does the D.C. rail cover the outlying suburbs of D.C. in MD and VA? If so, do riders have the same issues we do of having to get to the parking lots? Also, does everyone not pay when riding MARTA? I'd hate to think people threw money into an empty hole everytime they bought a token or one of the new swipe cards. Those people coming from outside counties help subsidize the costs of running MARTA because I can tell you, not everyone in those counties utilize the system. MARTA needs passengers wherever they can get them. MARTA has another issue to deal with, and that's timing. Yesterday I went off on security issues, but when people ride MARTA, they usually have a specified time schedule and need to arrive at places on time. Over the last year, I've noticed an increase in longer stop times between trains. It's difficult to estimate when you'll be somewhere with inconsistencies in rail stops. We won't even go there about the break-downs either.
