Weekend
I went to see a new play Friday night, Lettice and Lovage, a British play about two older women that appeared to be total opposites and ended up finding enough common ground in which to become friends. It was well done, and I'm glad I saw it, but not worth seeing again.
Thank God, my Panthers beat the Falcons yesterday. If we hadn't won that one, we could have written off our season, period!
I finished "Wonderful Tonight" by Patty Boyd. Good fluff book (a divergence from the more serious stuff I read). The most enlightening parts detailed more of George Harrison's and Eric Clapton's personalities. Regardless of their idiosyncrisies, it turns out that Harrison was a kind, introverted type that loved family and friends. I do believe he still loved Patty until the day he died. Clapton, on the other hand, is a total addict. If it wasn't a drug of choice, it was booze, all of which finally did the marriage in. He was self-centered and very needy when he needed someone and totally into himself when he didn't. Not good for a marriage, considering every time Patty left him, he did everything he could to get her back. He was also a rather calculating character when the Harrison's were having marital problems. He didn't seem to care that George was his best friend. Patty admits she should have tried harder to make the marriage work between she and George, he was the better person overall.
This week starts the new shows, and there are a couple I'd like to view. I'm going to start recording some, since I won't give up Boston Legal, Mad Men (on AMC), and of course, my Housewives. Grey's Anatomy can come or go, and I don't want to miss O'Reilly on FOX. I'll have the ability to record some while viewing others.
I had a very reflective time this weekend. Two of my ex-boyfriends' had memorial services for their fathers on Saturday. Just a reminder of our ages and what's to come, I suppose. I sent one a sympathy card and called one last night. He was my first boyfriend in the sixth grade, and I haven't seen him since 1984. He seemed to be quite pleased to hear from me. I figured he was staying at his parents' home. He sells CRM software, lives in Arlington, VA, runs marathons, and bikes quite a bit. Says he gets to Atlanta every 4-6 weeks, so I look forward to seeing him. Another one that's never been married. Some of his friends that attended the funeral went on later to attend another friend's second wedding, which happened to be at a plantation resort close to where my parents now reside. It was a busy, busy weekend up there in NC!
Now that I've been losing weight, I'm really pumped to continue. It's amazing as to what seeing old classmates will do to accelerate making sure you look decent, and that can be a good thing! I am propelled back into "motion"!
